October tends to bring actual cooler temps in the Coastal Bend, making it blissfully fun to stay warm and cozy in bed while binge-watching your favorite shows.
To create a bedroom that will remind you of the most stylish hotel you’ve ever stayed in, I highly suggest you mix and match bedding textiles and incorporate a variety of pillows. On this bed, I have the usual king bed-sized pillows for sleeping, a trio of European-sized (i.e., euro) 26” square pillows, and some smaller decorative throw pillows.
By adding in the euro pillows, you’re able to add style and function. These larger pillows are great to prop yourself up and support your back while reading or watching TV.
The area above the bed is also a great opportunity to create a decor focal point. I used some lightweight wall moldings painted the same color as my wall to create a large frame above my tufted headboard, adding architectural interest to the room. If you’re a renter, you can still do this by using command strips. Other options include a chic starburst mirror or a trio of frames with art or photos that you love.

• Incorporate seasonal throw pillow covers and throw blankets that can be changed out to accent the bed and space as a whole. For fall, I love velvet, moody florals, and leopard print paired together.
• If you have trouble mixing patterns, I recommend a solid color, a floral/geometric pattern, and a simpler polka dot/stripe in complementary colors for a curated but eclectic vibe.
• If you can splurge on bedding, do it on the pillow inserts and the sheets. These are items you’ll be sleeping on, and will appreciate and notice the most.
