Inspiration for Utilizing Handmade Pottery as Decor

From vases to vessels, the functional and decorative joys of handmade pottery are essential in home decor

I have one rule for any object that comes to live in my home: It must be beautiful and useful. Handmade pottery vases and vessels are the perfect collisions of art and utility. Keep them on a bookshelf to add interest and dimension to a stack of books, then bring them to the table for a dinner party or to hold that spring bloom you’ve patiently waited for all winter. Large and heavy vessels will hold whole branches, while smaller, dainty vases need only one bud. Check out local art galleries and farmers markets to find what speaks to you, and start collecting.

Simply Stunning Handmade Pottery

Think simple. That gorgeous bowl can hold a single stunning flower.

Function of Beauty

Choose pieces that are just as beautiful empty, and store them on an open shelf or table.

Versatile Vessels

Pitchers, bowls and even a coffee mug can be called to duty when needed.

Size Doesn’t Matter

Variety of sizing is key; every form of vase can serve a specific purpose.

You can get the look locally from a variety of ceramicists. Featured local ceramic artists: Tracy Daugird, Nathaneal Huffman and Vivian Rood.
