Entering Nueces Café feels like walking into your favorite meal being cooked at home. Even for first timers, the place just oozes with comfort and familiarity that engulfs you as soon as you walk in. These are precisely the feelings owner Cheri McCormick envisioned to invoke from customers when they first opened their doors in October of 2013. Good food, family, and community are some of the things that they feel strongly about and both Nueces Café’s atmosphere and menu show that.
Their walls are covered with words of optimism, positivity, and encouragement. There’s even a board dedicated to their customers being featured in different newspapers and magazines. It’s easy to see it’s more than just a business both to the owners and the customers. The cozy café’s menu is a wonderful and delicious selection of homemade family recipes. Their options are more on the lighter and healthier side, with wraps, sandwiches, salads, and smoothies taking front and center. “I see it as my family serving other families,” McCormick shared.
One of the many things created in house is their pesto, which is an employee recipe they’ve adapted. Their Chicken Pesto Panini, which contains grilled chicken breast, Swiss cheese, and their pesto, is a hearty and delicious blend of flavors that will leave you craving it for days. Another favorite is their Pecan Cranberry Chicken Salad Croissant, a unique and filling sandwich that hits all the right spots.
If you’re looking for good food to fill your belly and good vibes to fill your soul, Nueces Café is definitely the place for that.
