As an avid beauty and wellness product consumer, I get really excited when I discover something new. A yerba mate eye gel that combats under-eye puffiness … and is under $10? Swoon.
However, let that not misrepresent that I am loyal to some iconic brands. And there is a mascara that, for years now, I always come back to: Le Volume de Chanel. The juxtaposition of a $6 eye gel beneath a $40 mascara isn’t lost on me. This is the paramount flex of a beauty junkie, though.
With another time change upon us and flu season not quite in the rearview mirror for many, good rest and remedies are crucial, which is why I’ve included two of my favorite wellness essentials this month. One I can promise will help you achieve deeper sleep and the other is my go-to for combatting flu symptoms. I travel with these products, give them as gifts and highly recommend you check them out.
And with spring in mind, I conclude with a product that puts a spring in my step. In fact, I won’t play a tennis match or do a public speaking engagement without it. If you can appreciate a drink that improves cognition and energy and reduces stress, you will certainly enjoy finding out more about Magic Mind below.
THE ESSENTIALS
Le Volume De Chanel
Some mascaras hit a sweet spot a couple of weeks into use. You know, when it’s just tacky enough to begin to build and layer? Not Le Volume De Chanel. This tried-and-true favorite begins where other mascaras peak several uses later. The formula is buildable and gives perfectly defined and full lashes, without compromise, or simply put, without clumps. The wand, with a combination of long and short bristles, easily achieves precision and volume. Shade 80, Écorces, which translates to “bark,” is my favorite. It is subtle but effortlessly chic. Available at Chanel or Dillard’s.
Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel
I’ve been an avid drinker of yerba mate tea for some time, so when I came across the ingredient in the form of an eye gel, I was immediately curious. Yerba mate is rich in caffeine, which brightens and reduces puffiness of the under-eye area by stimulating circulation. Good Molecules Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel also hydrates with three different forms of hyaluronic acid. After I have washed my face, I dab and pat a small amount underneath my eyes in the morning. I like to give it a few minutes to dry before makeup application. It is gentle, yet effective, and at $6, an absolute steal. Available online at Good Molecules or Ulta Beauty.
Sleep Magnesium Oil
Magnesium plays a crucial role in stress reduction and muscle relaxation and is an essential mineral many are deficient in. It is best absorbed by the skin, making this spray highly convenient. Studies have found magnesium reduces the amount of time it takes to fall asleep and increases the duration of sleep. Applying magnesium at night has changed my sleep game. Two years ago, I brought magnesium oil to a holiday favorites party. Heads up: It can be a little tingly to the skin if you are deficient in magnesium, but as you continue to use it, that sensation goes away. Available online at Wild Hare Apothecary or Island Wellness & Nutrition.
Oscillococcinum
When our twins came down with the flu in January, Oscillococcinum (pronounced o-sill-o-cox-see-num) was the first medicine I reached for. It is a medicine cabinet staple for our family year-round. In the form of tiny sprinkles that melt under your tongue, it is easy for everyone 2 years and older to take. When taken at the first sign of symptoms, Oscillococcinum is a proven, natural way to reduce the duration and severity of flu symptoms. It is non-drowsy and has no known drug interactions. Available at Natural Grocers or online at BOIRON.

If you have activities requiring you to be calm while staying alert, you ought to give this powerful little drink a try. You’ll soon get to know my motto; more fuel, less drain. Cheers!
