Going boldly back to basics

By: Jarred Schuetze  Photos by: Aaron Garcia

The time has come to bid adieu to the wintry muted tones, because the spring season is bringing out bold arrays of paintbox brights to play with. With the tone shift in fashion, it’s no suprise that designers are drawing inspiration from the most elementary of color palettes: primary colors. For those of you not familiar with the color wheel, this means red, yellow, and blue.

Despite the inherent simplicity of the color palette, it’s tough to find a more eye-catching combination. There’s just something so fresh and playful about wearing a true, bold hue loud and proud. Strutting the streets in a flashy primary color celebrates fashion’s power to generate confidence, and the effects are irresistable. Some people opt for a color-blocked look, while others decide to incorporate the hues into complex prints. Either way, this is the kind of “basic” we can get behind when it comes to fashion.
