It’s one of life’s greatest pleasures, waking up late on a Saturday morning, choosing to skip the dishes and enjoying a hearty breakfast and hot cup of joe at a local eatery. From pulled pork omelets to house-made pastries, breakfast tacos and everything in between, here’s where we’re enjoying the first meal of the day on the weekend in Corpus Christi.

Hester’s Cafe & Coffee Bar

Local favorite Hester’s Cafe & Coffee Bar serves savory breakfast entrees, coffee drinks and smoothies too. Try the Cheese B.E.A.T., their take on an open-faced breakfast BLT with bacon, eggs, avocado and tomato, topped with white queso and a side of crispy breakfast spuds. For something lighter, try the Garden of Eaten veggie omelet, a smoothie bowl topped with granola, hemp seeds and berries, or the fluffy ricotta cloud cakes. 3812 S. Alameda, 1714 S. Alameda

8te

The tagline In Good Food We Trust rings true at this quaint eatery. At 8te, breakfast is served until 2 p.m. and includes a curated selection of classic American breakfast fare taken up a notch. Try the Bee’s Sammy, a pesto avocado toast with eggs and bacon, the Tres omelet with feta, spinach tomato and mushroom or the churro waffle. Say no more! 1220 Airline #250, (361) 723-0261

Sugarbakers

Although known for their delectable selection of desserts, Sugarbakers knows a thing or two about breakfast. With a hearty selection of omelets and made-to-order Belgian waffles, Sugarbakers has something for every kind of breakfast person. Try the BBQ Pulled Pork Omelet with house-made pulled pork and chipotle cream or the Mediterranean Omelet with veggies, goat cheese and herbs. Be sure to grab a sweet treat from the pastry case on your way out! 2766 Santa Fe St, (361) 884-9541

Bien Mérité

Known for its impressive spread of French pastries and millennial pink interior, Bien Mérité has built upon its pastry roots to include a full breakfast menu. For the sweet inclined, try the Creme Brulee waffle or Nutella & Strawberry Croissant. On the savory side, try the French breakfast plate, caprese avocado toast or Lox & Bagel. Regardless, don’t leave without trying a chocolate croissant or baked beignet. 1336 S Staples St, (361) 334-0241

Andy’s Country Kitchen

Talk to anyone who’s lived in Corpus a while and they will know about the blueberry muffins, the diner vibes frozen in time and the cute little train that chugs its way around the perimeter of Andy’s Kitchen. Go for the complimentary blueberry muffins, stay for the…now this might surprise you…breakfast tacos. Atmosphere and free muffins aside, the breakfast tacos are a surprising menu item that never disappoints! Neither do the other diner classics, like biscuits and gravy and build-your-own omelets. 5802 S Staples St, (361) 993-0251

Hacienda Vieja

The tacos at Hacienda are consistently delicious any time of day, but the next time you find yourself there at breakfast, consider ordering some pancakes for the table. Not all pancakes are created equal and these are impossibly fluffy and a surprising menu item not to be overlooked! 4301 S Staples St, (361) 994-6530

Lucy’s Snackbar

Whether you take a seat inside or opt for the parklet lined with greenery, Lucy’s Snackbar has Saturday breakfast vibes written all over it. With a full coffee bar, mimosas and a menu filled with a little something for everyone, this local spot won’t disappoint. Try the loaded waffle topped with nut butter, hemp and chai seeds, syrup and seasonal fruits or the breakfast plate complete with uncured bacon, two eggs over medium and spring greens tossed in a vinaigrette with a slice of toast. The yogurt bowl filled with superseded granola and seasonal fruit is an excellent, lighter option. 312 N Chaparral Ste. A, (361) 299-5040

Price’s Chef

You’ll want to visit Price’s Chef for a quintessential diner breakfast experience! A narrow restaurant lined with booths, a counter for parties of one or two and a waitstaff ready to serve you with a smile since 1940 make for the perfect atmosphere. As for the fare, think classic diner options with a variety of omelets, eggs benedict and a handful of South Texas-inspired dishes such as Huevos Rancheros and a Migas Plate. 1800 S Alameda, (361) 883-2786

Central Kitchen

Corpus Christi’s newest downtown restaurant, Central Kitchen, impresses with its homemade pastries and desirable atmosphere. Try the Adam & Eve toast with poached eggs, bacon jam, brie and arugula on housemade Sourdough or the Paisano with tomato jam, seasoned ricotta and basil on focaccia. Whatever you choose, order a Kouign-Amann to pair, a slightly sweet croissant pastry that is truly to die for. 320 Lomax St C, (361) 887-6833
