Sunday, September 14, 1919,brbrought a storm that overwhelmed the City of Corpus Christi and forever changed the course ofbrhistory. The damage of the hurricane in 1919 wiped out the Downtown Bayfrontbrand took the lives of hundreds of Corpus Christi citizens. However, with an end came abrnew beginning, an inspiration for change. Infrastructure improvements such asbrbreakwater structures and the seawall modernized our coastal City.

The 100th anniversary bringsbra day to recognize the milestone. On September 14, 2019, a service held in memorybrof those who perished begins at 8:30 am at Rose Hill Memorial Park, located atbr2731 Commanche St. Following at 10:00 am, the Corpus Christi Museum of Sciencebr& History will open for a photo exhibit featuring images of the aftermathbrof the storm.
