Just incase you’ve yet to eat black-eyed peas on New Year’s Day, we’re sharing an archived recipe from our Farm to Table duo, Justin and Kayla Butts. After all, we could all use a little extra good luck in this new year. Happy eating!

Southern Style Black-Eyed Peas

br

Prep time: 10 minutes 

Inactive prep time: 8 hours 

Cooking time: 1 hourbr

Ingredients:br

br

1 lb dried black-eyed peas 

1⁄2 lb fresh bacon chopped 

1 medium onion diced

br4 garlic cloves, mincedbr

br

1 tbsp cayenne pepper sauce

4 cups chicken or vegetable stockbr2 bay leaves

br1 1⁄2 cups fresh cilantro, dicedbrSalt and pepper, to tastebr

Directions:br

Soak peas prior to cooking accordingbrto package directions. If peas arebrbought fresh from farmer, no need to soak. Drain and rinse peas andbrremove any undesirable pieces.br
