For a little over a monthbrnow, “Who is Tim Pona?” has been popping up all over the local social mediabrscene. With various random, photoshopped pictures, cryptic posts of childhoodbrstories about a young Tim, and images of artwork created by the artist, thebrCoastal Bend has been left with one simple question: who is Tim Pona?
“[He] is an artist, musician, writer, poet, bradult film star/director, and work traveler. He is a Renaissance Man. Abovebrall, Time Pona is a local boy made good who wants, for the very first time, tobrshare his passion for art with his hometown of Corpus Christi,” says GeraldbrLopez, a member of the K Space Contemporary’s Board of Directors and Studio Manager.
Lopez explains that Pona grew up in CorpusbrChristi in the late 60s and 70s and, among other life events, his job as abrbartender at The White Rabbit altered his artistic career forever. The rest ofbrPona’s story is undoubtedly an interesting one, but we think it best for you tobrunravel it for yourselves.
“He never had a notion to show anyone hisbrwork,” Lopez says, “doing it mostly for himself as a kind of therapy, untilbrnow.”
If you are interested in finding out justbrexactly who Tim Pona is, head over to the Schaudies Gallery inside K Space ArtbrStudios (3rd floor) this Friday, April 6th from 5:30 to 9brPM for the opening of the exhibit.
