The Texas Longboard Surf Club is preparing for their third annual Cinco de Mayo Longboard Pro/Am Contest this May, with fun for everyone. With surfing competitions, food trucks, vendors, and more, the event is sure to bring the community together.  The event will take place May 7th and 8th at North Packery Channel, also known as J.P. Luby Beach.

The club, which aims to promote connection and awareness in the sport of surfing, its culture, and coastal conservation, is hosting the event for surfers of all ages and skill levels.

With a variety of divisions to participate in, amateur surfers can compete for a variety of prizes donated by local businesses, and contestants in the pro division will compete for cash prizes, which totaled $2,000 at 2021’s event.

Whether catching waves or enjoying the competition from the beach, the event is certainly a great way to kick off summer. Vendors will include pop-up coffee drinks, snow cones, food, and shopping, with everything you’ll need for a fun day at the beach with the family.

Local surf photographer Tony Woodall, the owner of Tonys Surf Shots, will be capturing the competitors in action and provide those who can’t make it out with an up-close, front-row view from the water.
