We are six days away from Thanksgiving, and although an entire weekend stands between now and the fourth Thursday of November, your hungry family will be gathering before you know it. To help you kick off the holiday season in earnest, we’ve put together a local to-do list for the week before thanksgiving.

Complete your thanksgiving pre-orders and grocery shopping

Hopefully, you’ve already stocked up on spices, and other pantry items, but now it’s time for the big stuff – from turkey and ham to pre-made appetizers and pies. Check out the specials and pick up your turkey from local meat markets like Boarri Craft. Pre-order your holiday pastries from Bien Mérité or Hester’s Cafe. Don’t forget to stock up on any last-minute produce from the farmer’s market!

Decorate your home with florals, foliage, and festival decor

Nothing ties in the spirit of fall like antiques, candles, topiaries, succulents, & air plants. Make your holiday a beautiful one with cornucopias, foliage, and bouquet arrangements from Planted, Rose Soiree, or Wildflowers.  Don’t forget to check out these five local shops perfect for last-minute tablescape decor items.

Double-check your serveware (and wine inventory)

Review your recipes and ensure you have all the tools you need to prep, bake, cook, and serve your guests. Stop into Pilar and browse a variety of flatware and serveware options. From cheese tools to cooking utensils, serving trays, and coasters, Italian Cowboy Food & Provisions offers a curated selection of fine cooking, serving, and houseware brands. (You can also stock up on any last-minute bottles of wine or cheeses for your dinner guests while you’re here!) If you can’t make the trip to Rockport and are looking for a local way to purchase a few bottles of wine, hit up Lucy’s Snackbar!

Try and relax

When the host is relaxed and happy, the guests are too. Stock up on your favorite apothecary products from COMMONS to help you stay stress-free throughout the planning, cooking, and hosting. So, pour a glass of wine or a cup of tea, light that signature Made in Corpus Christi candle, and give thanks for nourishment, family, and friends!
