Do you love embracing nature, supporting local vendors and perusing hundreds of plants for sale? If the answer is yes, then putting “stop by the Big Bloom Plant Sale” on your weekend to-do list is a must.
The South Texas Botanical Gardens’ annual Big Bloom Plant Sale and $2 Community Day Presented by Corpus Christi Medical Center event takes place this Saturday, April 2, 10 AM to 5 PM.
Family-friendly and open to everyone, the event features hundreds of plant varieties, specialty vendors, self-guided tours, a Kids Zone, horticulture and environmental assistance from Texas Master Naturalists, food trucks and more.
A full schedule of events:
9 AM: Membership Table Opens (Members Enter Free)
9-10 AM: Members-Only Shopping
10 AM – 5 PM: Big Bloom Sale, Orchid Sale, Vendors, Nature’s Boutique, Kids’ Zone, Self-Guided Tours, and on-site horticulture & environmental assistance from Nueces Master Gardeners and Texas Master Naturalists.
11 AM – 3 PM: Food trucks
11 AM and 4 PM: Reptile Shows
11:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 3:30 PM: Ladybug Releases
12 PM and 3 PM: Butterfly Releases
1 PM: Parrot Talk
Members of the South Texas Botanical Gardens will gain early access to the event and have an opportunity to shop the sale first from 9 to 10 AM. If you plan on purchasing numerous plants, make sure to bring your own wagon or plant cart, as there typically aren’t enough to go around.
Due to Covid-19 and winter freezes, this will be the first year the event has taken place since 2019, and the South Texas Botanical Gardens expect a large crowd at this year’s event.
