Whether you’re team dry rub or all about the sauce, there’s no shortage of standout wings in Corpus Christi. From tried-and-true classics to chef-driven takes, these five local spots are serving up craveable wings worth the mess.
Birdies Wings & Bar
A newer face in the local food scene, Birdies’ menu covers the wing gamut from combos to tenders and chicken bites. Dry rubs include usual suspects such as lemon pepper, but the Tajin or chili lime options have piqued our interest. As for sauces, you really can’t go wrong, but the honey BBQ, chile piquin parmesan and spicy Korean are truly finger-licking good. 7514 SPID #206
B&J’s Pizza
Pizza joints seem to go hand-in-hand with excellent wings, and B&J’s Pizza knows this to be true. The Buffalo Lemon Pepper and Cracked Black Pepper and Sea Salt varieties are crowd pleasers, but the go-to order here is the Jack’s Wings. Aptly named after owner Jack Baker’s love of garlic, this six-piece comes smothered in Frank’s Red Hot Sauce and crushed red pepper flakes, and doused with loads of fresh garlic. 6662 S. Lei Kitchen
With Chef Kevin Ly at the helm, Lei Kitchen reimagines traditional Asian dishes through a modern lens, and that approach extends to its wing selection. The Korean Fried Chicken Wings stay crisp beneath their saucy coating, striking just the right balance between heat and sweetness. For something slightly more savory, the teriyaki wings are another solid pick, made with sauce prepared using an authentic Japanese method. 4037 Saratoga Blvd. #D
Marty McPies
Ever since adding wings to the menu, Marty McPies has earned a fairly permanent place on personal lists of “best wings in Corpus Christi.” Flavors range from Marty’s BBQ and Carolina Reaper to Umami and, our current favorite, Hot Honey Parm. Whatever you choose, don’t skip the homemade G.D. Ranch, as it takes every bite up a notch. 300 N. Shoreline Blvd.
House of Rock
Here you’ll find oven-baked wings that don’t skimp on texture or flavor. Options range from Caribbean Jerk and Garlic Parm to Bourbon Molasses and Garlic Balsamic, but we’re claiming Mango Habanero as the All-Star player here. 511 Starr St.
