In our monthly Table Talk series, we gather food and drink news in one place for your convenience. From restaurant openings to new menu updates, here’s what we’ve seen in the Corpus Christi food and drink scene this month.

BAARE BBQ Opens Its Doors
BAARE BBQ is the newest local barbecue joint to open its doors in Corpus Christi. Founded by Bret Worley and his family, the business was built on family-first values and a love for cooking quality meats for the local community. Using the name as a representation for that mission, BAARE is composed of the first letter of each name in their family: Bret, Alisa, Aiden, Reagan and Ellis.
The restaurant’s custom smoker operates entirely on wood fire, fueled by post oak from the Texas Hill Country. This commitment to craftsmanship is reflected in the restaurant’s guiding philosophy: doing it right every single day. The sides and desserts are homemade, each with a special BAARE twist. Having just opened this summer, BAARE has become a go-to spot for many locals’ craft meats, barbecue cravings and family dinners. The restaurant is open Thursday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. or until they sell out. 7626 S Staples St. #111, Corpus Christi, TX

Dokyo Fuses Culture and Cuisine w/ New Menu
This summer, Dokoyo Dantaun introduces a vibrant array of fresh flavors with its revamped menu, which features an expanded selection of cocktails and a brand-new Omakase experience. We’re particularly excited about the latter, which includes three tiers of Omakase: the “Sampler,” “House” and “Chef” options.
Drawing inspiration from the rich seafood traditions of Japan’s coastal areas, the offerings highlight premium fish, seasonal specialties and sophisticated dishes that display Chef Miller Xu’s distinctive Japanese-French culinary style. A graduate of the esteemed culinary arts institution Le Cordon Bleu, Chef Miller expertly designs menus that harmonize striking visual presentation with rich tastes. 424 N Chaparral St, Corpus Christi, TX
Mariner’s Must-Try Lunch Service
With a tiki bar-inspired atmosphere, The Mariner now features a lunch selection filled with flatbreads, salads, quick options and shareables. A part of The Harrison’s Landing dining family, The Mariner’s lunch service began back in February, but we just can’t get enough. Featuring high-quality, fresh ingredients, menu highlights include a quesabirria flatbread with consomeé, a lamb burger and a jumbo shrimp cocktail.
Water views, quality food and top-notch drinks? What more could you ask for. The Mariner’s lunch service is available Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. 108 Peoples St T-Head, Corpus Christi, TX
