On Thursday, June 14, from 7–11 p.m., The Art Museum of South Texas is hosting the annual artRageous summer party. The museum is inviting locals and art lovers to “saddle up,” because this year’s theme is Cowboy Cosmonaut. According to the museum, this summer’s artRageous fundraiser “will rocket you straight into a celestial celebration of all things creative and raise funds to bring meaningful learning experiences in visual and performing arts to Corpus Christi.”

For those unfamiliar with the event, artRageous is an annual fundraiser hosted by the Art Museum of South Texas to benefit their exhibition, education, and outreach programs. The event strives to raise funds to support the museum’s mission, and bring “meaningful learning experiences in visual and performing arts to Corpus Christi.”

The event will occur at the museum, and provide food, drinks, and dancing — although, in compliance with the theme, food, drinks, and dancing are moon treats, whiskey tastings, a cosmic saloon, and astronomical activities. Attendees won’t be dancing on their own, either. The museum will have 10-food LED dancing robots at the event, grooving to the funk music of Austin artist Henry Roland and his one-man band, Henry + The Invisibles. Guests can take their cosmic adventure to the outdoor courtyard where DJ JELLOxSHOT, of Hybrid Records, will be spinning funky tunes all night long.

Attendees are also encouraged to dress according to the “space cowboy” theme, although it is not required. The double-theme provides for some creative options, however — partygoers could whip out their old disco gear or David Bowie outfits, and partiers will still be in theme if they saunter in with their boots still on.

Tickets are $75 for an individual and $150 for a host committee, and are available for purchase at www.artmuseumofsouthtexas.org. Raffle tickets are also being sold, for the chance to win various art works. Space will never be the same.
