Rockport is celebrating big this weekend! For theirbrhalf-century special, over 120 artists will be participating and showing off allbrthey have to offer. Artists will be displaying a variety of mediums throughout the entire event! Anything from classical acrylicbrand oil paintings, and ceramic pieces to woodwork, and even handcrafted jewelry andbrglasswork – there will be a treasure for just about anyone who goes looking this weekend. Some artists have even created furniture and welded metal sculptures forbrthe event!

This festival has opened a lot of doors to artists of allbrbackgrounds, and continues to keep up that tradition this year. Many state-wide awardbrwinning artists will be participating, including 25 new artists that have neverbrbeen seen before.

This festival has been going strong since 1969, andbrcontinues to be one of the Nation’s favorite artist events, all located right here in our very own backyard. There is something to be said in that, and the Rockport Centerbrfor the Arts really does hold up that image. Rockport has been an arts and culture hub here in the Coastal Bend for decades! Not even Hurricane Harvey could stop them from continuing a full calendar of events and programs, despitebrlosing their operation of business.

So, to kick off this big birthday celebration, not only willbrthere be a massive tent for live music and a wide array of food and drinks, butbrthe annual Poster Artist, Angalee DeForest (who we just happened to feature in our A Point of View), is hosting an exhibit for herbrcollection at the Estelle Stair Gallery. There will even be an activity tentbrfor the kids to create their own work and show it off.

The festival will be located in a new place this year, atbr106 S Austin St., Rockport. All ages are welcome, and will officially begin at 10bram – 6 pm on Saturday, and 10 am – 5 pm on Sunday (July 6th – 7th). Make sure to visit one of the largest eventsbrthis summer that gathers some of the most creative people all in one spot!
You can even buy artwork Friday evening through an Art Auction Gala, taking place at the festival grounds at 5:30 pm. There will be an open bar and dinner. Just double-check to see if you have something nautical or patriotic to wear for the evening.
