Pride Month Events in Corpus Christi

From pet parades and movie nights to award shows and live performances, here's how Corpus Christi is celebrating Pride Month 2024.

Pride Month is celebrated internationally every June to honor and recognize the LGBTQIA+ community and its numerous accomplishments, progress and contributions to our history, emerging from the Stonewall Riots in June 1969.

Here in Corpus Christi, you’ll find many family-friendly, interactive and exciting ways to celebrate Pride Month; and we’ve compiled a list of events happening in the area to help you plan ahead. In addition to those listed below, numerous events are organized by small business owners, local artists and community groups, showcasing the diversity, inclusivity and creativity in our city. Check out event calendars from organizations such as PRIDE Corpus Christi, Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation and the Coastal Bend Pride Center for additional programming throughout the entire month of June.

Yoga with Pride  | June 6

Join the Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation for a celebration of wellness at the Yoga with Pride event on June 6 from 6:30-7:30 p.m. Led by Tantralini Kundalini Yoga & Meditation, participants will be guided through a radiant evening of dynamic movement, breathwork and meditation in an inclusive environment. This event is BYOM (bring your own mat) and registration is required.

ArtWalk x Pride | June 7

This month’s ArtWalk will include special pride programming throughout the streets of downtown Corpus Christi. Weird Corpus teamed up with Pride Corpus Christi to curate a block party on Peoples Street, alongside Cassidy Irish Pub’s patio party. The pop-up event includes tunes from DJ Johnny Hotcakes, local vendors and more. Also on Peoples Street, people can visit Produce Bar Co. for the debut of the exhibition entitled “Where Do You Go.” The showcased pieces are all created by local artists from the LGBTQIA+ community.

Plus, don’t miss House of Rock’s ArtWalk Pride Night hosted by Azul Entertainment. Starting at 6 p.m., enjoy the art of drag with Isis Paris York as your host and emcee and performances from Desiree, Lee, Primadonna, Noel, Scarlet, Kitana and Porcelain. The show is open to the public and is intended for individuals aged 18 and above.

Pride CC’s Comedy Night | June 8

Comedy Night featuring Poppy Champlin and Kate Sisk is back for a show so good you’ll be sore from laughing too hard. Enjoy Poppy’s blend of rapid-fire jokes and spot-on impressions paired with Kate’s edgy comedy and unforgettable persona. The show begins at 7 p.m. at Mesquite Street Southside and tickets are $25 a person.

Pop Icons – Gemini B York Birthday Celebration | June 9

Hosted by the one, the only, Isis Paris York, Gemini B York’s Birthday Celebration will honor the pop icons we all know and love. Happening at the House of Rock, performances by Chelsea, Dino, Porcelain, and Kemichall will captivate audience members with their high-energy glamour. A brunch buffet, vendors and special photo ops add to the fun in store. The show is intended for ages 18 and up and tickets are available to purchase online. Doors open at 11 a.m. and the show begins at 12:15 p.m.

Know Your Rights Workshop | June 9

The Coastal Bend Wellness Foundation’s Know Your Rights Workshop takes place on June 9. Hosted by Equality Texas, the workshop is a free event designed to educate and empower the LGBTQIA+ community in the face of anti-LGBTQIA+ legislation in the State of Texas. With a mission to help Coastal Bend residents stay informed and resilient, the workshop will include information on protecting yourself and your rights under challenging legal circumstances, identifying allies and understanding the current political landscape.

Out Professionals Mixer | June 14

Organized by the Coastal Bend Pride Center, Out Professional Mixers brings LGBTQIA+ business professionals and allies together to network and embrace community. This month’s mixer will be held at Lazy Beach’s Taproom from 5:30-7 p.m. on June 14.

7th Annual LGBTQ+ Youth Prom | June 15

Join the Coastal Bend Pride Center for its 7th Annual LGBTQ+ Youth Prom on June 15 from 7-11 p.m. This year’s theme, “A Night in Ancient Greece,” encourages attendees to wear their best Grecian, Olympic god or ancient chic outfits. More than just a dance, this event provides a safe and inclusive space for local youth to express themselves and feel accepted. Tickets are available online for $10 until 5 p.m. the day of the event and for $15 at the door.

Pet Paw-Rade | June 15

Make plans to attend the 4th Annual Pet Paw-rade at St. Paul United Church of Christ on June 15, from 10 AM to noon for a family-friendly event celebrating LGBTQIA+ inclusivity in our community. The event includes a pet costume contest, a bouncy house for the kids, refreshments, a pet parade and an SPCA pet adoption drive.

Femme Movie Night | June 15

On June 15 starting at 6:30 p.m., join Pride Corpus Christi and Alamo Drafthouse for a special screening of Femme. Boldly defining the conventions of society, the thought-provoking film resonates with the shared LGBTQIA+ experience, shedding light on the struggle against violence and the fight for self-expression. Whether you’re a member of the community, an ally or simply a movie lover, you won’t want to miss this powerful film.

Poetry Night + Weird Corpus Third Thursday at AMST | June 20

Celebrate the creativity and diversity of the LGBTQIA+ community at Weird Corpus’ Third Thursday Poetry Night on June 20 at the Art Museum of South Texas from 6-9 p.m. This free event brings together writers to share their unique perspectives through the power of poetry. The Poetry Night will feature inspiring readings from individuals showcasing their talents and providing a platform for LGBTQIA+ voices to be heard. Plus, browse through the Third Thursday vendor booths and the museum’s exhibitions.

Pride Pub Crawl | June 21

Get ready for a night of fun, friendship and festivities in the heart of downtown Corpus Christi with the annual Pride Pub Crawl. The crawl kicks off at Lazy Beach’s downtown location at 5:30 p.m. and will travel to Retro at 6:30 p.m. for a rooftop party and games. At 8 p.m., the route continues on to Old Kress Live for a bit of karaoke, and at 9 p.m., the party moves to Peoples Street with signature cocktails from OK Hi-Fi and Produce Bar Co. The crawl ends at The Hidden Door for an epic after party. Participants are encouraged to utilize rideshares to get around, and a Lyft discount code will even be provided!

The Art of Drag | June 22

Hosted by K Space Contemporary, this year’s Art of Drag category is queen horror. Dress up as your favorite final girl or spooky character and enjoy thrilling performances from Arson Nick, Deja the Clown, Amanda Rekonwiv and Porcelain. Attendees can also enjoy local vendors, a donation wine bar and live DJs. This event is intended for ages 18 and up and tickets are available to purchase online. Doors open at 7 p.m. and showtimes run from 8 to 10 p.m. Proceeds from the event will help support K Space Contemporary and the Coastal Bend Pride Center.

Pride Book Club | June 23

Navigating Corpus Christi invites the public to join its monthly book club night. On June 23 from 11 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., this month’s club will focus on LGBTQIA+ literature as the group discusses Taylor Jenkins Reid’s, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo. Join in on insightful discussions and the opportunity to connect with fellow book lovers.

The Glammy Awards presented by Azul Entertainment | June 30

Cap Pride Month off with Azul Entertainment’s 3rd Annual Glammy Awards at House of Rock.  The awards feature categories such as Activist of the Year, Best Dressed, Fave Showgirl, Best Reocurring Productions, Rising Star of the Year, Fave Drag Queen and so many more. Hosted by Isis Paris York and Gemini B York, the evening is sure to be one fabulous time. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show begins at 7:15 p.m. This event is free to attend and intended for ages 18 and up.
