Tenebroso, or tenebrism, is the Italianbrword for moody and dark, which is befitting for this exhibition comprised ofbrlarge-scale charcoal works. Tyler describes his work as, “A vividbrluminosity emerges from the void of the shadows, as one last breath beforebrbeing returned to the earth.”

Tenebroso celebrates the naturalbrhistory and scientific community in the afterlife of flora and fauna, usingbrstill life and specimens from various collections. Tyler’s recent piecesbrincorporate old master landscapes from the likes of Rubens, Corot, Grimshaw, brand others, as a nod to the masters of the past and Tyler’s formal training inbrthe fine arts.
