The Texas Surf Museum proudly showcases the enchanting gowns and trains from the 67th annual Buccaneer Days Coronation Las Donas de la Corte and The Court of Imagination in Bloom from Tuesday, August 17, 2021, through Monday, September 6, 2021.
Well known for the ornate and extraordinary beadwork based on the court’s theme, The Court of Imagination in Bloom celebrates the delightful tales and symbolic meaning attached to an exquisite variety of flowers and their associations with legends, culture, and tradition. Each year a Court artist and designer is selected to create Coronation Court dresses and trains that reflect the year’s inspiration and theme. Themes are prepared a year’s worth in advance, allowing the designers to work on the dresses all year.
Shelly Porter, an abstract artist who works primarily in watercolor and acrylic, was the designer specifically chosen this year to bring Imagination in Bloom to life.
The result of the exquisite works of art represents the creative talents of local artists, dressmakers, and families who collaborate to create these enchanting gowns and generate support for the community. Texas Surf Museum hours are from 11:00 am – 7:00 pm, Monday through Saturday, and 11:00 am – 5:00pm Sunday Las Donas de la Corte is a decades-old tradition that works to provide generous donations for local charities. For the next 3 weeks, the beautiful, hand-beaded dresses and trains worn by the Queen, Princess, and Duchesses of this year’s Coronation will be on display.
