As the first day of summer arrives this Saturday, Coastal Bend residents have already begun feeling temperatures rise. While the heat can make beach days feel refreshing, daily life often endures the effects of a hot summer season.
Reliant is providing the community relief from obtrusive high temperatures that come during the summer with Beat the Heat centers that offer fresh treats and gadgets to keep you and your family cool. For the 11th year, Reliant has partnered with the Corpus Christi Parks and Recreation Department to open Beat the Heat centers in the peak warm season of the year.
“At Reliant, supporting our communities and particularly those who are most in need is truly a priority. In a way, it’s a big part of who we are as a company,” shares Reliant spokesperson Rolando Salinas.
New to this year’s Beat the Heat centers are family activities. Create summertime memories with games, arts and crafts, and indoor fitness activities patrons can pick-up curbside at Beat the Heat centers. Also pick up essential supplies such as arctic air coolers, paper fans, visors, water bottles, sunglasses, and hats.
The giving doesn’t stop there. Reliant is also sharing energy efficiency tips to help locals save energy and resources during the summer. They are also providing information about their CARE (Community Assistance by Reliant Energy) program for those in need. Reliant’s CARE program has contributed over $11 million in bill payment assistance throughout Texas and offers flexible payment options for customers.
“We’ve partnered with the city of Corpus Christi for 11 years to bring the Beat The Heat program to its residents, knowing that the summer months can be hard on anyone, but especially those most vulnerable – like our seniors and young children,” Rolando says. “Frankly, we can’t think of a better investment than keeping our communities safe and providing a bit of relief from the heat.”
