Currently in its 15th year, the Coastal Bend Day of Giving is a gift-matching program created by nine area foundations in response to the need for food and shelter in the Coastal Bend. Since its inception, the campaign has raised over $28.2 million for nonprofits providing necessities to local individuals. This year, 25 matching funders have come together to provide a matching fund of $1.4 million, enabling each participating nonprofit to raise at least $45,000 if they make the match in individual online donations.
The Coastal Bend Day of Giving functions as a 24-hour online matching fundraising campaign administered by the Coastal Bend Community Foundation. The community give-together will take place on Nov. 14 from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. with a minimum donation of just $10 to gift to your choice of 63 nonprofits.
Though the official Day of Giving is Nov. 14, early donations are being accepted up until the day. Simply choose the nonprofit(s) you would like to donate to and input payment information. There is also an option to donate across all participating organizations. Donations are hosted 100% online, so donations made via the website or connected link on a participating nonprofit’s website are the only ones accepted; no cash or over-the-phone payments permitted.
Beyond the benefit of raising funds for good causes, the Coastal Bend Day of Giving provides a unique solution to community needs by raising funds at a very low cost to the nonprofit entity and by strengthening nonprofits through new donor and volunteer recruitment. This community-wide event spotlights Coastal Bend’s spirit of giving, raises awareness about local nonprofits and encourages a collective effort toward charitable giving.
