As temperatures drop, a comforting and satisfying dish like curry becomes even more appealing. In the Coastal Bend, local restaurants are showcasing their culinary artistry with menus that emphasize authenticity.

Tuk Tuk Thai Restaurant

Nuttapan “Nick” and Kanya “Judy” Weeranitikun opened Tuk Tuk in late 2022, offering the Coastal Bend a new option for traditional Thai food. The Weeranitikuns are an impressive pair, as is their menu and commitment to using quality ingredients. This is a top choice for curry in the Coastal Bend, featuring a lineup of the usual suspects: red, yellow, green and panang curry. We’re giving a special shoutout to the oh-so-buttery potatoes found in the yellow and green options.  6314 Yorktown Blvd. #201

Thai Cottage

You can’t go wrong with any of Thai Cottage’s curry options, which include red, yellow, green, panang, pineapple, roasted duck and fish fillet. All are served with steamed jasmine rice and your choice of protein. We recommend the fried tofu, which adds a crispy texture and is far from lacking in flavor, unlike some other tofu dishes. 5830 McArdle Road, Suite 10

Lei Kitchen

Chef Kevin Ly brings over 30 years of expertise in Southeast Asian cuisine to Lei Kitchen, evident in the authentic flavors and innovative twists across the menu. When it comes to curries, there’s a wide selection, including house yellow, Thai red, seafood red and Thai green. However, the curry udon, available with grilled chicken or shrimp, stands out as a distinctive option. The mild, wheat-based udon noodles, with its smooth texture, are ideal for absorbing the rich and umami-packed curry sauce. 4037 Saratoga Blvd. #D

BKK Thai Kitchen + Bar

BKK’s curry menu stands out with its impressive array of protein choices. Diners can embark on their own culinary adventure, selecting from classic curry flavors like panang, yellow, green and pineapple. The plot twist comes with the protein options: organic tofu, certified Angus beef, shrimp, mixed seafood, moo yang pork, tiger cry sirloin and wild-caught salmon. As a bonus, don’t miss the chips and curry appetizer.  3850 S. Alameda St. & 6702 S. Staples St. Unit C

Persis Indian Grill & Bar

Owners and best friends Ankit “Andy” Patel and Vishel “Vish” Patel have created one of the only local spots for Indian food in the Coastal Bend—and we greatly thank them for that. Most of the curry options on this menu are prepared in the Andhra style, which is known for being spicy, tangy and packed with flavor. Shrimp, Goan fish, egg, veggie, lamb and cashew curry are just a few of the options. An order of garlic naan is key to mopping up any leftovers.  4650 Corona Drive
