This week, Charity League of Corpus Christi, in partnership and collaboration with Julian Gold Corpus Christi, announced their pick for this season’s Annual Spring Style Show & Luncheon designer.
Charity League is fiercely dedicated to improving the quality of life for citizens in our community. In fact, that is what the non-profit organization is founded on. The Charity League of Corpus Christi, a local nonprofit group of 40 women, has been focused on doing charitable work in our community since 1934. Each year, they choose a local nonprofit to raise money and advocate for its entire fundraising season. This year, Agape Ranch was the chosen charity.
Many children in foster care feel unlovable because of the abuse they’ve experienced. Agape Ranch aims to break that cycle through forward-thinking and community-based solutions, by providing a variety of programs and a sanctuary with homes, playgrounds, rec areas and on-site respite care providers to love and support foster children. The neighborhood built on the ranch allows for sibling groups to stay together, enables quick response respite care and provides housing for kids who have aged out of foster care.
“Charity League is delighted to raise funds for Agape Ranch,” said Charity League president Brett Goodman. [Agape Ranch] is a compassionate and progressive project that strives to provide merciful care, connections for families within the foster care community and now, a neighborhood that offers a place to call ‘home’ filled with unconditional love.”
Goodman continued, “At full capacity, Agape Ranch will house 168 children and youth. Charity League’s specific fundraising efforts will be used to build and complete a house within the Agape Ranch neighborhood, providing South Texas foster children and youth a secure and loving home.”
Charity League’s fundraising efforts cap off at the Annual Spring Style Show & Luncheon. The event is talked about all year long and the theme, along with the chosen designer, is always highly anticipated.
This year’s theme, “Enchanted Garden,” was chosen by Charity League and its Style Show chairmen, Kasey Hunter and Katie Urban. With the theme chosen, Julian Gold Corpus Christi began the process of selecting a designer for the show. The brand Christy Lynn was chosen as the line to showcase.
“Once we learned the theme was ‘Enchanted Garden,’ we started to think about the clothing lines we carry that are whimsical,” said Julian Gold Corpus Christi store director Alexa Gignac. “Christy Lynn came to mind as she makes a lot of whimsical garments, as well as beautifully structured jackets. [Christy Lynn] really has a look for every body type, so we thought it’d be perfect for the show.”
Christy Lynn creates luxurious ready-to-wear clothing for the modern and romantic woman. The Texas designer’s beautifully crafted pieces use sensuous silks, hand-painted and restored floral prints and timeless hues of color that appeal to multiple generations and last a lifetime. “The beautiful prints and flowy [stillhouses] of Christy Lynn pair harmoniously with Hunter and Urban’s vision for [an ‘Enchanted Garden’ theme],” said Goodman.
As for what eventgoers can expect from this year’s Style Show? “A lot of tinsel, whimsical movements and a lot of butterflies,” Gignac remarked.
The Annual Spring Style Show & Luncheon takes place on March 2, 2022, at the American Bank Center. As one of Charity League’s biggest funding opportunities of the year, proceeds from the event will directly benefit Agape Ranch.
