Celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month Continues

Join the Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History for a celebration of culture

The Corpus Christi Museum of Science and History continuesbrthe celebration of National Hispanic Heritage Month a Family Education Day onbrSaturday, October 5 from 10 am – 5 pm. Engage with hands-on traditional activitiesbrfrom various areas of Latin-America such as making pinatas,brmola – a hand-made textile that forms part of the traditional women’sbrclothing of the Kuna people from Panamá, pan flutes, Loteria, and folklore.

“We are honored tobrhave the opportunity to celebrate Hispanic heritage month with our Saturdaybrprogramming and events,” says President of the Museum of Science and History,brCarol Rehtmeyer. “It is important that we celebrate culture and ourbrcommunity in a meaningful way that engages the entire family!”

A presentation starting at 10:30 ambrfrom Cecilia Garcia Akers, thebrauthor of The Inspiring Life of Texan Hector P. Garcia, shares her perspectivebrof her late father – Civil Rights leader, Dr. Hector P. Garcia. Autographedbrbooks will be available for sale.

Complimentary AquabrFrescas provided by Fresco will be available from noon to 12:30 pm. Inbraddition, Chef Mario Garcia from H-E-B Plus will cook up pork guisado verde whilebrsharing his traditional cooking family stories.
