It seems as though each new day brings a new story of help and relief along with it. While there are plenty of outlets to keep you informed on the current standings of COVID-19 both on a worldly-scale and a local one, we’re aiming to share stories of gratitude, relief, and hope throughout these trying and uncertain times. One of those such stories, includes the Corpus Christi Hooks, a fast-food favorite, and meal donations to a local hospital.
The beloved local sports team, the Corpus Christi Hooks, partnered with Whataburger this past week to provide 100 breakfast taquitos for the weekend staff at Driscoll Children’s Hospital. Driscoll, a 198-bed. Pediatric tertiary care center with more than 30 medical and surgical specialties, cares for the entire South Texas region including, Corpus Christi, the Rio Grande Valley, Victoria, and Laredo.
Wes Weigle, General Manager of the CC Hooks, personally delivered the taquitos to the hospital himself and helped spread a little cheer and gratitude to those working tirelessly at the frontlines of this pandemic in our local area.
This is just another example of how people in the Coastal Bend are rallying behind one another during these times. Do you know of a local story of lending helping hands in our community? Shoot it over to firstname.lastname@example.org. We’d love to share it with others!
