The holiday season is finally upon us. That means cold weather, the smell of pine (even if it’s from an air freshener) and classic holiday songs blaring while cruising the Coastal Bend to “ooh” and “ahh” at your favorite holiday light displays. To ensure our readers don’t miss out on the various hot spots for Christmas lights, we put together a list of the best and brightest spots in Corpus Christi and the greater Coastal Bend region to check out this season.
Candy Cane Lane
A Corpus Christi favorite, Candy Cane Lane opens the first weekend in December and runs through New Year’s Eve. Every season, the residents of Schanen Estates go all out to transform four streets—Donegal Drive, Wooldridge Road, McAlpin Drive and Killarmet Drive—into a glowing maze of lights and candy-cane arches. Visitors can drive the route or park nearby to take a walk under the twinkling displays, hot cocoa in hand.
Peppermint Lane
Peppermint Lane returns to downtown Corpus Christi throughout December, bringing festive lights, decorated storefronts and plenty of holiday cheer to Chaparral Street. Plus, the Mayor’s Merriest Downtown Decor Contest adds extra sparkle to the entire area this time of year. Catch the Holiday Markets every Sunday in December, where local vendors fill the street with crafts, gifts and seasonal treats.
Lights on Castle Way
Take in a dazzling light show synchronized to holiday classics and radio hits alike! Enjoy the show from the comfort of your car, on display at the end of Castle Way’s cul-de-sac. A perfect destination during cold, dark nights! Tune into 91.3 FM to hear the music, and sing along as much as your passengers can handle. 3610 Castle Way Cir

H-E-B Christmas Tree
The 66-foot H-E-B Christmas Tree on the Bayfront is the centerpiece of the city’s holiday season. Standing tall over Water’s Edge Park, the tree shines with thousands of lights and ornaments, reflecting beautifully off the water. The lighting ceremony takes place on Dec. 6 at 5:30 p.m., marking the official start of the holiday festivities downtown. Once the lights are on, it’s the ideal spot for a family photo and an evening stroll. 602 S. Shoreline Blvd.

Mr. Bill’s Wonderland
For more than two decades, Mr. Bill’s Wonderland has been a Brighton Village staple, transforming the neighborhood into a true Christmas dream. Visitors can explore Santa’s Workshop, snap a photo inside a passenger train car and marvel at the 12-piece choir and life-size nativity scene. The wonderland also features miniature Ferris wheel, a snowman swing and a 10-piece train display. With something new to see every year, it’s a stop that reliably delights kids and adults alike. 3314 Hampton St.

Mazoch Holiday Display
Cross the JFK Bridge to see one of the Coastal Bend’s most famous holiday displays, featured on ABC’s “The Great Christmas Light Fight.” The Mazoch family brings coastal flair to Christmas with sea-themed lights, pelicans, fish and ocean-inspired decor mixed with traditional holiday scenes. Their stunning setup is lit all December long, and visitors are encouraged to bring an ornament to hang on the community trees for a thoughtful touch that captures the true spirit of the season. 15301 Isabella Court
