With warmer weather and sunny skies, we’re all about taking our physical activities outdoors. From a friendly game of pickleball to biking or walking down a beautiful nature trail, here are six ideas to inspire your outdoor workouts this season.

Bike with the backdrop of the Bay

There’s nothing like the 11-miles of Shoreline Boulevard/Ocean Drive to get our hearts pumping while riding our bikes, plus there is a dedicated bike lane for most of the way. Air up your tires and take in the beautiful bay while cruising past our favorite downtown views. Looking for a new set of wheels? Pay Bay Area Bicycles a visit and see what they’ve got in store!

Gather a group of friends for a game of your choosing

Recreational sports are a great way to target multiple muscle groups and get your heartbeat pumping. Head over to Al Kruse Tennis Center for a pick up game of pickleball or tennis. Not quite sure how to play? The center offers daily lessons for both pickleball and tennis taught by pros. Just give them a ring to schedule.

Surround yourself with nature for a walk or run

Taking a walk or going for a run is one of the most accessible ways to exercise outdoors, whether your choice is a path along the stunning coastline or one of the Coastal Bend’s nature hiking trails. You can find a full list of nature trails waiting to be explored here.

Try something new and take a stand-up paddleboarding class

Stand-up paddleboarding has become popular in the last few years due to its full-body workout! There are great spots around the Coastal Bend to get your paddle on, but Water Dog Yoga, SUP & Barre offers classes right on the marina’s edge if you’re looking for a place to learn and don’t own your own equipment.

Take your workout to the water

Kayaking, surfing, kiteboarding, windsurfing, you name it – being on the coast provides the perfect opportunity to exercise on the water in a myriad of different ways! Check out Worldwinds Windsurfing, Inc. at Bird Island Basin for windsurfing lessons and and kayak rentals.

Join in on this weekly group fitness class
