Have you ever seen Dr. Frankenfurter do the time warp…again? Have you ever laughed along with the Little Sisters of Hoboken as they raise emergency funds for the convent? What about learning of the true story of a legendary Texas Brothel known as the Chicken Ranch, which operated from the 1840s to 1973? If so, then you’ve probably sat in a red cushioned seat, popcorn and donation wine in hand, at the Aurora Arts Theatre once or twice over the last ten years.

Yes, you read that correctly: the last ten years. Because next Wednesday, January 22, marks the 10th Anniversary of thebrAurora Arts Theatre. To celebrate this significant success, the Aurora isbrbringing back their inaugural productions, kicking off with Dan Goggin’sbrmusical comedy Nunsense directed by Corey Ranson, set to open today, Friday, Januarybr17, 2020.

Reminding those familiar with the theater of the journey andbrmany friends made along the way, the “habit-forming” musical will reunite mostbrof the original cast and production team, making the production extra special and come full circle.

Edward Chapa founded Aurora Arts Theater in 2010, providingbrthe Coastal Bend community and beyond with a theatrical venue where patrons,bractors, musicians, and volunteers could come hone their craft or enjoy thebrmultifaceted magical world of theatre.

“We’re really excited about being in Corpus Christi for thebrlast 10 years,” says Theater Manager, Charlie Chapa. “We’ve had so many actorsbrcome through the theater. We’re very proud to be a part of that and allow thembrto perform and show off their talents. It was something that we wanted to dobrwhen my brother opened up this theater 10 years ago, and we’re proud to keepbrhis legacy going.”

“Eddie is oftenbrremembered for frequently saying ‘LIVE THEATRE BABY’ when something unexpectedbrhappened on stage,” shares Mary Chapa, Executive Director. “In retrospect, Ibrshould add that while this LIVE THEATRE did often surprise us with new andbrexciting challenges, there has been one constant that has been the backbone ofbrour quaint, intimate theatre. That constant has been our community, patrons,bractors, musicians & volunteers.”
