Red Line Burgers
Red Line Burgers is known for its classic burgers, but its crispy chicken sandwich is the perfect alternative for anyone looking for chicken. I couldn’t write about classic chicken sandwiches without including a grilled option. Nolan’s Restaurant has been serving fresh food for more than 60 years. Served on a fresh wheat bun, the grilled chicken breast comes topped with lettuce, tomato, mayo, and swiss cheese. 7426 S. Staples St.
The Bar and Grill
If you’re looking for a new chicken sandwich in town, The Bar and Grill has one that’s sure to hit the spot. Their Buffalo Chicken Sandwich includes a freshly fried chicken breast topped with coleslaw, pepper jack, blue cheese aioli, and homemade buffalo sauce. 2150 Waldron Rd.
Wallbangers is well known for its burgers, but the local hot spot actually has some of my favorite chicken options in the area. The Chipotle Chicken Sandwich is fried to golden perfection and topped with bacon, cheese, avocado, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion. 4102 S. Staples St.
One twist from the ordinary is The Exchange’s Colonel Chicken Sandwich, made with a blackened chicken thigh and coated in their secret blend of spices of herbs, topped with creamy corn salsa, waffle fries, and Monterey jack cheese, this sandwich is sure to hit the spot for anyone looking for a change of taste. 224 N Mesquite St.
Made with panko battered fried chicken and topped with housemade kimchi and wasabi honey mustard, served on a Kaiser roll, The Lookout’s Chicken Sandwich is the perfect subtle change from the ordinary chicken sandwich. 4242 Laguna Shores Rd.
This list wouldn’t be complete without my personal favorite chicken sandwich in town. Fried to a golden crisp, and topped with marinara sauce, pizza cheese, and parmesan, B&J’s Chicken Parmesan Sub is a delicious alternative to the normal concept of a chicken sandwich. 6335 S Padre Island Dr.
