Ahoy, mateys! The Jolly Roger flag flies once again and the concerts, carnival rides, parades, rodeo festivities and more are officially underway. There’s something for everyone to enjoy when it comes to the tradition of Buc Days.
Beginning in1938, the non-profit organization that is the Buccaneer Commission, has annually staged the Buccaneer Days festival in Corpus Christi, Texas in support of bringing entertaining, educational and cultural events to the Coastal Bend. Proceeds from Buc Days are awarded to students as college scholarships. Taking place in the heart of downtown Corpus Christi, this culturally diverse event features a bit of everything.

Buccaneer Days Stripes Carnival
May 5 – 15
Buccaneer Days Stripes Carnival kicks off Thursday, May 5, and takes place through the entire festival run. The grounds for the carnival can be found near the American Bank Center on Chaparral street. This year, you’ll find new rides and games, an interactive zone, live entertainment and more.
In addition to the carnival, this year’s festival will include the Treasure Island attraction, which will feature a petting zoo, pony rides, Red Dragon Pirate Shows, the Racing Pigs Show and shopping opportunities from a variety of vendors. Dunking of the Mayor
One of the most iconic kick-off moments each year is the Dunking of the Mayor! Corpus Christi Mayor Paulette Guajardo will take the leap into the waters Thursday, May 5 around 5:25 PM. Watch the tradition take place from the Seawall on N Shoreline Blvd at Starr St across from the Omni Hotel.
PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour – Bull Riding Only Event
May 6 -7
Get ready for high-octane bull riding action! The PBR Pendleton Whisky Velocity Tour Finals presented by Coastal Bend Chevy Dealers is a bull riding only event featuring some of the world’s best riders going head-to-head with bulls born to buck. It’s a night of adrenaline you won’t forget. The PBR Pendleton will take place at the American Bank Center and tickets are available online or you can stream the events live.
Downtown Pirate Pub Crawl
Pop in to all of your favorite downtown bars for the Downtown Pirate Pub Crawl. The event is 21+ and is free to join. Bar Crawlers will meet at Lucy’s Snack Bar on Chaparral to receive a punch card and treasure map. Hop to any of the 13 participating bars to get pirate-themed specials, then turn in their punch card at BUS to enter for a chance to win prizes. Buc Days Parades
May 7 & 14
The Navy Army Night Parade is the first of two parade events for Buc Days 2022. This classic tradition and key component of Buc Days kicks off on May 7 at 8 pm at the corner of Hirsch and North Chaparral streets and ends on the corner of Park Avenue and North Staples Street. Because the parade has returned to its previous route, wherever you are along the parade map means you’ve got an excellent seat! The parade will feature marching bands, spirited dancing, dazzling floats and more fun. Check out the official parade route map for more information. The parade will also be streamed live on KRISTV6.
The Buc Days Children’s Parade presented by Driscoll Health System will take place on May 14 at 10:30 am and will run along Shoreline Boulevard. The parade will feature marching, dancing and floats from some of Corpus Christi’s standout schools, youth organizations and more. View the official parade map for more information.
FTC Buc Days Robotics Rodeo 2022
The Buccaneer Commission is proud to partner with FIRST® in Texas to bring this CITGO-sponsored STEM event to Corpus Christi. The Robotics Rodeo is an opportunity for area students in grades 7 through 12 to show off their tech, engineering and robotics skills to win up to $10,000 worth of prizes up for grabs. This is the first year the Robotics Rodeo has been added to the Buc Days lineup of events and will take place at the America Bank Tower in Corpus Christi. There is no charge to attend this event but registration is required to attend.
Rodeo Corpus Christi
May 11 – 14
Head to the American Bank Center to see all your rodeo favorites, like saddle bronc riding, barrel racing, mutton bustin’ and more. One of three World Champions Rodeo Alliance (WCRA) Triple Crown events of the year, Rodeo Corpus Christi allows the Buccaneer Commission to grow prize money for rodeo athletes, showcase the city and ultimately give back to student scholarships in South Texas. The Championship Night Presented by The Port Of Corpus Christi will take place on May 14 beginning at 7 pm.
