The Corpus Christi 7 Day Film Project (“CC7D”) makes its return in 2021. The annual filmmaking competition to encourage and facilitate local filmmaking challenges teams to make a short film from start to finish in seven days. Since 2007, CC7D is the longest premier film event in the creative community. With cash prizes as much as $1,000 for the Grand Jury Award, Audience Award, and several acting awards.

CC7D Steering Committee Member Mickey Kramer stated, “The community that rallies around CC7D is incredibly inspiring. It’s an anchor event in our community’s calendar and it was painful to cancel the 2020 event. Despite the cancellation, we watched those same members of our community continue to create, even in the face of a pandemic. And the truth is this: creatives do not need any event to be creative.”

Kramer continues, “CC7D has a long-standing track record for giving creatives a space to connect and showcase their work. And as Corpus Christi emerges from COVID-19, the Steering Committee has reflected on the important role that events like CC7D play in the creative community. It may be one avenue for creative expression, but it’s an important one. We’re committed to making this avenue available tor our community again, in whatever means necessary. We will always be mindful of the community’s health and safety. But we are also ready to get back to doing what we do best: creating an awesome event that showcases the talent that exists in Corpus Christi and beyond.”

While updated guidelines from the Center for Disease Control and the Nueces County Health modifies all events, the timeline includes: Cast and Crew Call held on June 16, 2021, at House of Rock, beginning at 6:00 pm. Anyone who has ever wanted to be a part of a film should participate in this event!

The CC7D Kick-Off held on July 7, 2021, at House of Rock at 6:00 pm marks the beginning of the official CC7D filming week. After a week of filmmaking, Team Leaders race to submit their film as the clock ticks down for the CC7D Turn-In on July 14, 2021, at the House of Rock.

The CC7D 2021 Screening will occur on September 5, 2021, at Alamo Drafthouse, beginning at 1:00 pm. Audience members can vote for their favorite movies and celebrate Corpus Christi filmmaking with the CC7D Teams. The celebration continues with the CC7D Awards Ceremony at House of Rock on September 5, 2021. It’s a fantastic night of camaraderie and connection for the creative community, as CC7D Teams gather together to discover and celebrate the award winners.
