October is here! Some of you have been counting down the weeks, days, and hours for cooler temperatures, festive candy, horror movies, and Fall decor to arrive (you know who you are). Although coronavirus has certainly curtailed traditional Fall and Halloween festivities, the alternatives provide plenty of safe Fall fun. Here's what the first weekend of October brings. 

 

October Virtual ArtWalk

It just wouldn't be the first of the month without ArtWalk. This Friday, support your favorite local vendors online. Log on to Instagram from 5:30–9:00 pm and visit @downtowncorpuschristi to access all the best sales, promotions, and discounts ArtWalk vendors offer. Drive-in movie event

Kick off the spooky season with classic Halloween movies. On Friday, from 9:00–11:15 pm, Concrete Street Amphitheater is hosting a viewing of Hocus Pocus, presented by Herrman and Herrman. Be sure to arrive 45 minutes early to reserve your parking spot before the movie starts. Purchase tickets online. Admission starts at $20 per car. Doors open at 8:00 pm, the show begins at 9 pm. Fall Craft Fair

The Corpus Christi Southside Farmers' Market presents their Annual Fall Craft Fair. Join in on Saturday between 9:00 am –3:00 pm to shop with all the best local farmers and artisans in town. Enjoy local food, music and entertainment, and browse from handmade crafts to freshly grown produce with peace of mind. Booths remain spaced out, and hand sanitizing stations will be available at each booth.  5800 Everhart Rd.

 

Have fun with history

Join the Texas State Museum of Asian Cultures and Education Center on Saturday, October 3, for Folklores and Swords. An event dedicated to folklore readings beginning at 1:00 pm, followed by a live weapon demonstration at 1:30 pm. Tour guides will be available all day for museum tours. 1809 N Chaparral St.

 

Local Stroll and Akasha Open House

Enjoy an evening outdoors on Saturday, October 3 from 5:00–7:00 pm at the Local Stroll pop-up shop. Listen to live music from Lakeita Valon while stopping by vendor booths. Sol Boutique, Gold Dust Cosmetics, Daze Jewelry, General Goods Vintage, and many others will be in attendance. C.C. Movie Nights

Lights, camera, Hooks! Head over to Whataburger Field for CC Movie Nights presented by Reliant Energy. Enjoy a safe, family-friendly movie event for free. This weekend's feature is Despicable Me and begins at 7:00 pm. Reserve your ticket in advance, as seating is first-come, first-serve with limited capacity. Gates open at 5:30 pm. Saturday Wine Tasting Dinner

Bellino's is calling all wine lovers to join in their Wine Tasting Dinner on Saturday, October 3, at 6:30 pm. Voter Registration Drive-Thru

The most important day of the year is coming up. That's right; it's Election Day. If you haven't registered to vote yet, be sure to do so this Sunday, October 3, from 10:30 am-1:30 pm at the Voter Registration Drive-Thru at Brewster St. Ice House – South Side, hosted by Herrman & Herrman. This weekend is your last chance to register to vote for this years' election.
