Annapolis Christian Academy Begins On-Campus Learning08/20/2020 09:45AM ● By Kylie Cooper
The year 2020 will go down as one of the most challenging years we have seen during the 21st century. In January, as global reports of a new coronavirus started to emerge and people began contracting the virus, we waited to see how it would affect our nation. It quickly became apparent that the way we conduct our lives was going to be very different than what we were used to. By the end of February, certain precautions were simply recommended. By mid-March, most of us were trying to keep up with the constant changes and our heightened concern for the health of our families, friends, and communities have left many wondering if this is the “new normal." Businesses have closed and reopened, and sadly, some have closed again. Masks have become a hot commodity and the term “social distancing” has become part of our everyday vernacular.
Adults are not only trying to navigate the ongoing mandates enforced due to the COVID-19 pandemic but maintaining some sense of normalcy for the children in their lives, has presented new challenges, especially when it comes to education. Many are finding the situation daunting and with good reason. There is no easy answer, no clear-cut plan from those who have faced these circumstances before. Schools are overwhelmed with trying to find solutions that appeal to everyone, but one thing is for certain, losing the human connection and social interaction continues to present a number of challenges for teachers, students, and parents.
Annapolis Christian Academy has certainly been affected as well. Like every other school in our country we had to adjust in order to keep education moving forward for our students. Though the circumstances are challenging to say the least, our mission has never wavered. Our goal as a school is to partner with families to train the next generation of Christian leaders who will impact their culture for Christ! This unprecedented time has given us the opportunity to dig in, dig deep, and show Christ’s love for our students in unique ways. It has also shown us how we can improve, become stronger, and be better at supporting our teachers and families. With our COVID-19 protocols in place, ACA began our 2020-2021 school year as scheduled on August 5th. We offer On Campus Learning and Synchronous Learning for PreK 3 -12th Grade. While our ultimate goal is to have every student on campus, we know that not everyone is comfortable with that yet.
Whether on campus or through virtual platforms, ACA will continue to offer: Smaller Class Sizes, Personal Connections with Teachers, High Academic Standards, a Robust Liberal Arts Curriculum with a Biblical Worldview, and a Nurturing Environment for Mind, Body and Soul. As we head into the 2020-2021 school year, we will remain vigilant and focused on the overall well-being of our students and teachers. If this year has taught us anything it is that we do not know what tomorrow holds, but Annapolis Christian Academy teachers and students are well prepared for whatever comes next knowing that God gives us the hope and strength to continue on. After all, WE ARE WARRIORS!
