Saving Money and Staying Healthy

By: Air & Filters

As your air conditioning filter does its job, it gets loaded with more and more particles. This increases resistance and reduces airflow. Your AC filter needs to be checked, maintained and changed frequently in order to function properly and safely. Why is it important to change your AC Filter?

PRESERVES THE LIFE OF YOUR AC UNIT

A clogged air filter can cause major damage to your system. A dirty air filter restricts the air flow in your HVAC system which places additional strain on the unit which could, over time, freeze the unit and cause your system to fail. Check your air filter’s condition monthly to ensure the longevity of your system, saving yourself thousands in possible repair and replacement costs.

It is also important to ensure you have the correct sized filter installed. The evaporator coils of an AC Unit are what keeps your unit blowing cold air. A filter protects the AC coils from getting dirty which would make the unit run longer to cool your home. Having the wrong sized filter will allow air and particles to go around the filter, causing build up on your evaporator coils and eventually causing your unit to fail. A new filter is the least expensive way to maintain your unit.

SAVES MONEY ON YOUR ELECTRICITY BILL

Having a dirty air filter makes your unit work harder and consumes more energy. Replacing your AC filter regularly is one of the quickest ways to reduce your energy bill.   It’s also an easy and inexpensive way to be environmentally responsible.

PROVIDES A HEALTHIER ENVIRONMENT IN WHICH TO LIVE

If your filter is too dirty, it starts to become a source of air pollution reducing the air quality in your home. Changing the air filter in your system means you are not constantly circulating dust, pollen and other small particles in the air. Instead, it ensures cleaner, fresher, healthier air. This is better for everyone in your home, particularly children and the elderly, and most especially for those suffering from allergies and/ or asthma. Change your filter for your family’s health.
