The last weekend of the holiday season is upon us! If you’re looking for fun ways to engage in the local scene, we’ve rounded up a list of things happening in the Coastal Bend. Looking to entertain out-of-town guests? No problem. Looking for ways to spend the winter break with your kids? Sure thing. Here are a few weekend happenings you should know about.

Get your ugly Christmas sweater ready for the Drunk Until You're Pretty Ugly Sweater Christmas Party at Lorelei Brewing Company. On Friday, December 20, 2019, from 3 – 10 pm, the taproom is hosting a holiday celebration, offering a free beer token for those who come dressed in theme. The classic Corpus Christi Ballet production of “The Nutcracker” debuts their Gala Weekend featuring music by the Corpus Christi Orchestra on Saturday, Dec. Ice-skating always feels like a holiday fantasy us South Texans might not be familiar with.  But, starting this weekend and running until December 30, the American Bank Center presents Coastal Christmas and ice-skating from 9-11 pm, making all of our icy winter dreams come true. The festival features a grand display of holiday lights, décor, and entertainment and is free to attend. There is a $10 ice-skating fee that includes skate rentals or $5 if you bring your own! The Gulf Coast Humane Society transforms their dog park into a winter wonderland for Christmas, in the Dog Park from 6-9 pm on Friday, Dec. 20 through Tuesday, Dec. 24. If you’re still experiencing post-Halloween blues, get spooked during the holiday season at the Hauntings of Boogeyman Scary Christmas from 7 pm to midnight Friday, Dec. 20, and Saturday, Dec. 21. Dash through a transformed haunted house of holiday horror. Aurora Arts Theatre brings more holiday fun with "A Christmas Story" at 7:30 pm Fridays and Saturdays, 2:30 pm running through Dec. 29. It is inspired by the Christmas classic movie set in the 1940s, that follows 9-year-old Ralphie Parker and his quest for the Holy Grail of Christmas gifts. General admission is $17.
