Labor Day Weekend in the Coastal Bend

For most of us, Labor Day is a final hurrah at the end of the summer; school has just started up again and a new season of work kicks into high gear. This Labor Day weekend, summer gets the proper send-off with lots of fun events, both indoor and out around the area. From on the water fun and interactive exhibits for the whole family to enjoy, to a free Spazmatics concert in Rockport. Read on for a few of The Bend's top picks for enjoying Labor Day weekend in the Coastal Bend.
-Kicking-off the weekend is the 2nd Annual Little Bay Labor Day Music Festival sponsored by the City of Rockport. Friday, receive free general admission to the Spazmatics. Gates open at 4 pm and the show begins at 6 pm. Keep the fun going on Saturday for Fiesta en la Playa with Siggno and Sunday for Texas Country Day. -Check out Parrot Talk at the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center. This ongoing interactive entertainment feature begins at 1:30 pm on Friday and will run all weekend long. Complete with educational demos, interaction with the animals, Q&A and photos, this neat event is sure to bring you closer to nature. For more information call 361-852-2100.
-Dance Friday night away at Latin Night with The Exchange. Friday night, Hablamos and CC Ballroom by the Bay are offering dance lessons to help get you in the right groove. Get in rhythm and stay for the Latin inspired vendors, music, and cuisine, located at 224 N Mesquite St. Corpus Christi, TX 78401.
-Fill your weekend with crazy, creative fun on the Corpus Christi Bayfront at Arts Alive! 2019. This event is an annual two-day celebration of all things art: fine art, interactive experiences, demonstrations, and workshops. The weekend will also feature live music, food trucks, and a Beer Garden in the park. Saturday and Sunday from 12pm – 5pm, you'll have the chance to see tons of talented art vendors. With 20 live art demos such as Giant Street Steamroller Printmaking and sand sculpting to ceramic art, fiber working, wood carving, there will be fun for the whole family! -Step aboard the Texas Tease for Sunday Brunch Cruise! Enjoy an hour and a half cruise on the Corpus Christi Bay with mimosas in hand. -Lastly, join the Animal Rehabilitation Keep on Labor Day at 10 am as they release five rehabilitated sea turtles back into the wild on Mustang Island at Port Aransas Beach Marker 35.
