A Guide to the First Weekend of May in Downtown Corpus Christi
By Kylie Cooper
It's the first full weekend of the month which means that Downtown Corpus Christi will come alive with ArtWalk and BridgeWalk sponsored by H-E-B in the Marina Arts District and SEA District.
ArtWalk is hosted in the Marina Arts District on the first Friday of every month. Approximately 45 vendors will be in Artesian Park on the corner of Chaparral St. and Twigg St. Vendors include handmade local goods, jewelry, clothing, art and food vendors. Local musician Rudolph Llanes will be performing in Artesian Park and David Martinez will be performing in Water Street Market. Additionally, businesses within the Marina Arts District will be hosting artists, vendors and live music at venues such as House of Rock, The Exchange, Treehouse Art Collectibles, Vietnam Restaurant and many, many more! Shuttle service is provided to take you around the district, as well as to the Art Museum of South Texas. ArtWalk is where you’ll find artists, musicians and all things creative converge.
Then join us on Sunday for BridgeWalk. BridgeWalk is in it's 8th year, with just over 26,000 participants either running or walking the approximately 3.42 miles over the Harbor Bridge to take in the gorgeous views of Corpus Christi Bay. Participants meet in Heritage Park around 8am and the walk will officially start at 8:30. After the walk, participants will receive a BridgeWalk card with a stamp for their participation. After 5 walks, they will receive a free BridgeWalk t-shirt.For more information about each event, visit marinaarts.com or check out the Marina Arts District Facebook page.
