A New Route for Buc
By Kylie Cooper
The Buc Days Parade is one of our favorite parts about the summer time. The whole community gathers together to celebrate culture and all things Coastal Bend. However, this year, you might recognize a couple changes.
The organization announced they will be switching up the route for this year’s Buc Days Navy Army Night Parade! Due to the progress and construction of the new Harbor Bridge, the parade will now start at the American Bank Center, and complete a 2.5 mile route at Bufford Street!
The route will travel South down Chaparral to Schazell, turn West on Schatzell Street, up the bluff and continue West on Leopard Street to N. Staples St. Another turn will be taken at N. Staples St., and then head South on N. Staples St. to ultimately end on Buford.
The parade, a tradition since 1938, draws in an estimated 145,000 street spectators each year – all gathered together to view the beautiful floats, bands, horses, and tons of other community and local participants.
Even with a change of route, there is no doubt this year’s parade will be as beautiful and exciting as ever. We can’t wait to see what they have in store!
