Talk of the Town: Day Drinking

There’s a simple, beautiful truth and this is it: day drinking is the best. We’re not talking about sipping on a glass of pinot grigio while tending to your niçoise salad. We’re talking about a steady flow of alcohol from early afternoon ‘til the sun goes down.
Long reigning as the puerile choice in drinking occasions, often regarded as less “acceptable” than say happy hour or a cocktail party, day drinking in contrary, is glorious and rewarding.
An occasion unto itself, day drinking should be enjoyed on
firm, yet convivial terms, and yes, there are terms. Day drinking shouldn’t
become a consistent activity. It shouldn’t Segway into drinking all night.
Starting too early is definitely a thing. That said, a good rule of thumb is
waiting until after lunch. This is when the pace has eased up, the post-work
vultures have yet to circle the watering hole, and bartenders are less occupied
allowing for more attentive and personalized service.
