Natives and visitors of the Coastal Bend tend to flock around Thanksgiving time to good food. Mom and pop (and your fun aunt) make the killer home-mades. But, some shops in the area are offering Thanksgiving specials and takeout options to ease the Thursday of pre-heating ovens, vegetable chopping, and a mountain of dishes. Here are some local businesses and corporations that will be open in the Coastal Bend on Thanksgiving day, in case your focus on Thursday is aside from plucking the turkey.

For a full prepped meal, Schlitterbahn is offering an entire set-up of turkey breast toast, twice baked sweet potatoes, chicken apple sausage stuffing, giblet gravy, chunky cranberry pecan relish, green bean almondine, crusty rolls, waldorf salad, pecan pie, and bread pudding: a variety for the perfect feast. For 6-8 people it averages around $175.00 excluding tax, with upgrade options and extra side options.

The famous Butterchurn restaurant in Aransas Pass will be open from 10:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with their country-style buffet and Thanksgiving specialty entrees priced at 12.99 per person. But for the take out family, the Butterchurn has prepared to-go plates with “turkey and all the fixin’s!” available for drive-thru. Each plated turkey dinner is $12 until 2 PM or until the fixin’s run out.

Downtown in Corpus, The Exchange is hosting a Thanksgiving buffet from 11-4PM, aside from their usual menu. For a trendy early afternoon sitting with visiting family, you can count on the Exchange for a hearty thanksgiving menu. The buffet is $25 for adults and $11 for kids.

An absolute classic joint to show your out of town family is the House of Rock on Starr St., which will be featuring their full menu, and opening their doors for dinner on Thanksgiving day at 6 PM.

U&I’s Seafood Restaurant is also optimal for full families. On Thanksgiving Day, their menu will be vamped to feature specialty turkey, lamb, and prime ribs. They’ll be open until 3 PM, and offering take-out options which are available upon request.

From 11 AM to 6 PM, Landry’s Seafood and Steakhouse will be keeping their full menu up with a few limited edition additions for the holiday. Maple glazed salmon and seasoned duck will be served, and take-out options are also available upon request.

To keep it clean and simple, classic favorites like iHOPDenny’s and Cracker Barrel will also be open on Thanksgiving Day in Corpus Christi.

Whether you’re celebrating in or out of home, don’t forget that the H-E-B’s in town will only be open until 2 PM on Thanksgiving day. Make sure you're stocked at home for your own Thanksgiving needs before trying to check off your list in the last-hour rush! And, of course, happy
