Dr. Ramakrishna Chakilam, M.D. is a Board-Certified Pulmonologist and Critical Care Physician. He is fellowship trained in Pulmonary Medicine and a member of the American College of Chest Physicians. He attended Howard University and University of New Mexico, with a completed residency in Internal Medicine, Pulmonary Medicine, and Critical Care Medicine. After graduation, Dr. Chakilam moved to Corpus Christi, Texas.
Dr. Chakilam treats patients with lung diseases like asthma, bronchitis, chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD), chronic respiratory failure, emphysema, exercise induced bronchospasm, fungal infections of the lung, granulomatous lung diseases, interstitial lung disease, lung cancer, pneumonia, pulmonary hypertension, pulmonary critically ill patients in Intensive Care Units, much many more. Dr. Chakilam also performs procedures like bronchoscopes and other critical care procedures.
“If you cannot breathe, nothing else matters. When you have trouble breathing, it lowers your quality of life and overall health,” says Dr. Chakilam.
Dr. Chakilam opened his practice in January 2018. Texas Coastal Bend Pulmonary is a newly established practice serving Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend. He also has hospital privileges at Christus Spohn-Shoreline, Christus-South, Bay Area, and Corpus Christi Medical-Doctor’s Regional.
He is looking forward to a long career in medicine with continued contributions to the community and his profession. His goal is to collaborate with each patient to anticipate and manage their unique healthcare needs.
“Patient care is always my top priority. My goal is to partner with each patient to manage and anticipate their unique healthcare needs,” he says. “Together we will develop a personal plan to achieve the optimal health with all value. We will closely collaborate on what it takes to stay on the path to wellness.”
Upon finishing his residency in New Mexico, Dr. Chakilam moved to Corpus Christi with his wife and two daughters. He enjoys traveling and spending time with friends and family. He believes it is a privilege to take care of his patients and strives to give everyone the level of care they need to improve their quality of life.
